My first bead embroidery project!

This is the very first bead embroidery project I have ever attempted. The inspiration to jump right into this project came from checking out the packs of non-woven felt fabric from Beebeecraft last month. In the video, I mention that I *think* the material would be great for bead embroidery, among other things, because it has just enough stiffness, and it cuts easily without fraying. I am happy to say that the material worked out wonderfully, and I highly recommend it.

Not only did I use a section of the felt fabric sheet on which to bead, I also turned the piece into a hair accessory with a 1.5″ barrette clip finding from Beebeecraft, and backed the piece with light pink faux leather, which is featured in today’s video. I began the creation by making simple pencil drawing of the orchid directly onto the felt fabric. I cut around the design, loosely, and began beading in the center of the flower. The central rhinestone is another Beebeecraft product, with two holes drilled into the setting; I sewed the rhinestone directly onto the fabric with Fireline beading thread, then I continued beading around the piece, layering colors, and bead shapes and sizes. I have a lot to learn in the whole new world of bead embroidery, but I look forward to more practice and skil-building.
