Materials List:

Step 1.

On a comfortable length of beading thread, pick up (1) Bicone, (1) 11/0, (1) Bicone, (1) 11/0, (1) Bicone, (1) 11/0, (1) Bicone, (1) 11/0, (1) Bicone, and (1) 11/0.

Tie an overhand knot, then sew through the next Bicone and 11/0.

*Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew back through the same (1) 11/0, and continue to sew through the next Bicone and (1) 11/0. Repeat from (*) all around the piece.

Exit from the outer seed bead on the next picot.

Step 2.

Pick up (1) petal, sewing up from underneath, and pick up (1) 11/0. Sew down through the petal.

Sew through the seed bead at the end of the picot, under the petal, from the opposite direction. Also sew through the next two seed beads, the bicone, and the next seed beads, exiting from the seed bead at the end of the next picot.

Repeat this step to add the remaining petals around the piece.

Step 3.

Follow the thread path down through the petal, and out of the (1) 11/0 on top of the picot underneath the petal. Flip the piece upside down.

*Pick up (1) Bicone, (1) 11/0, and (1) Bicone. Sew through the next single seed bead at the top of the next picot. Repeat from (*) all around the piece.

Sew through the next Bicone and seed bead.

Step 4.

Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew back through the same 11/0 again. Also sew through the next Bicone, 11/0, Bicone, and 11/0. Repeat this step to add four more picots all around the piece.

Step 5.

Add leaves all around the piece at the locations of the new picots from step 4, in the same manner as the petals were added in step 2.

Make sure the leaves are all facing in the same direction.

Step 6.

Follow the thread path to one of the seed beads at the top of a petal.

*Pick up (1) Bicone, then sew through the next (1) 11/0 at the top of the next petal. Repeat from (*) all the way around the piece.

Sew around this ring of beads at least once more to reinforce.

Step 7.

Follow the thread path to exit from a Bicone underneath a petal.

Flip the piece upside-down,

*Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew through the next Bicone, seed bead, and Bicone. Repeat from (*) all around the piece.

Step 8.

In between each seed bead at the end of each of the ten picots, add (1) 11/0, (1) Bicone, and (1) 11/0.

Step 9.

Follow the thread path to exit from the 11/0 on the top of a leaf.

*Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew through the center seed bead in the next seed bead section. Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew through the seed bead at the top of the next leaf. Repeat from (*) all the way around the piece.

Sew around these beads again at least twice more to tighten this section.

TIP: Pull the leaf beads up, and closer together, while tightening the seed beads.

Step 10.

Flip the piece upside-down again, and follow the thread path one of the first 11/0 that comes after a bicone, on the outer ring of beads.

*Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew down through the third 11/0, Bicone, and next 11/0. Repeat from (*) all around the piece.

Step 11.

Follow the thread path to the seed bead at the bottom of the picot under a leaf bead.

*Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew through the next 11/0 on the innermost ring of beads. Pick up (3) 11/0, then sew through the next 11/0 at the bottom of the next picot. Repeat from (*) all the way around the piece.

Step 12.

Flip the piece right-side-up, and follow the thread path up to one of the 11/0 on the top and center of a petal bead.

Pick up (4) 11/0, and sew through the next 11/0. Repeat from (*) all the way around the piece.

Weave and knot in the remaining thread. Enjoy!
